"My FSD internship was easily the most rewarding professional experience I've ever had."

—Victor Tineo, FSD Alumnus

We believe that everyone has the potential to make a difference in the world and in their communities. Over the past 20 years, FSD has facilitated internships and provided the support necessary to engage with communities around the world in an appropriate and effective way, while ensuring participants also have the freedom to creatively problem solve. We provide the structure and support needed to create a mutually beneficial and collaborative experience for individuals eager to get involved in development work among under-served communities around the world. We don't place untrained individuals with organizations and expect long-term change to occur naturally - we understand that proper guidance is needed in order to make a positive contribution and have a successful personal and professional experience.

In order to support our interns in making meaningful contributions, our programs are filled with educational trainings in sustainable development and project management, reflection activities, and individual support from our local professional staff with extensive background and knowledge in our mission and work.

Because we believe that everyone has the potential to make a difference, we want to ensure that our programs are accessible to students of all economic backgrounds. This year, we are offering a Global Citizen Scholarship for those with demonstrated need.

This scholarship is a $1,200 scholarship that will help support your program fees. The scholarship is available to those applying for Winter or Spring session internships in 2017 or any 2017 program with a duration of 20 weeks or longer. In order to apply for this scholarship, you must write a 200-500 word essay about why you have this need, and what "global citizenship" means to you. Describe your personal experience with global citizenship and why this internship experience will make you a better global citizen.
